Camel is a Chinese battery manufacturer, founded in 1980 and based in Xiangyang, that supplies many car makers in China as well as the replacement market. It builds maintenance-free, EFB and AGM batteries. In Dubai it suits owners of Chinese-brand cars and drivers who want an entry-tier battery from a large, established factory.

A Chinese maker for Chinese-built cars
Camel Group was founded in 1980 in Hubei province and is listed on the Shanghai stock exchange. It is a big name in the Chinese battery industry, with several manufacturing bases and more than 200 car maker customers by its own count, Dongfeng being among the first. Beyond lead-acid starter batteries it also makes low-voltage lithium batteries. Outside China the name is far less known, which is the main reason Dubai drivers hesitate over it.
Chinese-brand cars are now a common sight in JBR basements, and many of them left the factory with a Chinese-made battery. Replacing it with a Camel of the same type keeps things as the maker intended. Newer models with start-stop need the AGM or EFB version. For an older runabout that just needs to start every morning, the maintenance-free line does the job at the entry tier. Do not expect it to outlast the climate, because heat limits every conventional battery here.

Is Camel the battery my MG or Jetour came with?
Possibly. Chinese car makers buy from several domestic battery suppliers and Camel is a major one. Read the label on the original battery to see. If it is a Camel, replacing it with the same type is straightforward. If not, we match the size and technology.
Is a Chinese battery good enough for Dubai summers?
A properly made one is. Heat shortens the life of every lead-acid battery, whatever the origin, and Camel builds to the same basic chemistry as the others. Where it differs is tier: it is an entry-tier choice. For heavy use we would steer you to a mid-tier brand.
Can you fit a Camel as the 12-volt battery in my hybrid or electric car?
It depends on the car. Some hybrids and EVs use a small conventional 12-volt battery that can be replaced like any other. Others use a lithium unit that is not interchangeable. Send us the make, model and year and we will check before a technician sets out.
