Kia's range in the UAE runs from the Picanto to the Telluride, and the battery grows with the car. A Picanto or Pegas has a small battery with little reserve, enough for the engine but not for an hour of waiting with the AC fan and stereo on. Sportage, Sorento and Carnival take a mid-size or large case. The Carnival deserves a mention: powered sliding doors and cabin lights left on by children are a regular cause of flat batteries.
Fitting is quick on most Kias because the battery is easy to reach under the bonnet and held by a simple bracket. Newer cars carry a battery sensor on the negative clamp, and it is refitted exactly as found. No coding is needed, although the idle and the auto-up windows may need a moment to relearn. Hybrid versions such as the Niro can have a lithium 12V battery inside the hybrid pack, which is not replaced at the roadside.
