About Duracell batteries
Austrian-built under a famous name
Duracell registered its name in 1964 and built its reputation on alkaline cells. The car batteries arrived much later. Since 2013 they have been made by Banner, a family-owned Austrian battery company, under a licence covering Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. They went on sale in the UAE the same year. So the name on the label is American, and the plates, grids and assembly are Austrian.
JBR has many cars that are not driven daily: a second car, a holiday-home car, a convertible kept for winter. A parked car still draws a little current for its alarm and computers, and a hot basement speeds up self-discharge. Duracell Extreme AGM handles that pattern better than a conventional battery, and it is the correct type for start-stop BMW, Mini and Mercedes-Benz models. The Advanced line covers ordinary daily cars without start-stop.

What Duracell does well
Built by a specialist
Banner makes starter batteries and little else, and it supplies European car makers. Duracell automotive batteries come from that same company, not from a general electronics factory.

Are Duracell car batteries made by the same company as the AA batteries?
No. Duracell licenses its name for car batteries. In Europe, North Africa and the Middle East they are built by Banner in Austria, a company that specialises in starter batteries. The household cells and the car batteries share a brand and nothing else.
I travel a lot and my car sits for a month. Is Duracell a good choice?
An AGM battery such as Duracell Extreme AGM copes better with standing than a conventional one. No battery lasts indefinitely without charging, though. If the car won't start when you are back, message us for a jump start and a battery test at the car, at any hour.
Will Duracell Extreme AGM work with the start-stop on my Mini or BMW?
Yes, provided the size and capacity match the original. These cars are built with AGM and expect the same type back. On many BMW and Mini models the new battery should also be registered to the car, so tell us the model and year when you message.
