Petrol Toyotas sold in the Gulf are simple to live with on the battery side. Corolla, Yaris, Camry and Hilux take a flooded or calcium maintenance-free battery under the bonnet, held down by a top clamp. What matters is the exact JIS size and which side the positive terminal sits on, because the cables are short and will not reach if the layout is reversed. A memory saver keeps the clock, radio presets and one-touch windows working through the swap.
Hybrids are different. A Prius, Camry Hybrid or Corolla Hybrid still has a 12V battery, a small auxiliary unit that wakes the computers and closes the relays for the high-voltage pack. On several models it sits in the boot or under the rear seat, and it is often a vented AGM type that must be replaced like for like. Big 4x4s such as the Land Cruiser need a high-capacity battery, and the charging system is tested at the same visit.
