Panasonic is a Japanese electronics company, founded in 1918, whose maintenance-free car batteries have long been a default choice for Japanese cars in the Gulf. The MF lines use a silver-alloy grid coating for heat resistance. In Dubai it suits Toyota, Lexus, Honda and Nissan owners, though supply now varies because Panasonic has wound down its own production.
About Panasonic batteries
Japanese-format batteries for Japanese cars
Konosuke Matsushita founded the company in Osaka in 1918, and it grew into a major Japanese electronics maker. Car batteries were part of the business for decades, built in Japan and Thailand and sold across Asia and the Middle East. The lines offered in this region were MF High Spec and MF Tough, both sealed and maintenance-free, with a silver-alloy coating on the grid that Panasonic lists as a feature for long life at high temperatures.
For years a Panasonic was the battery many Dubai workshops reached for when a Camry or Land Cruiser came in. Things have changed. Panasonic transferred its Japanese lead-acid battery business to GS Yuasa and closed its car battery plant in Thailand in 2023. Stock still reaches the UAE, but not in every size. If we have a fresh Panasonic for your car we will offer it. If not, we will suggest an equivalent Japanese-format battery.

What Panasonic does well
Made for Japanese fitments
Sizes follow the Japanese standard that Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Nissan and Mazda use, with the correct terminal thickness and position for each.
Silver-alloy grid coating
Panasonic lists a silver-alloy coating on the grid of its MF line, intended to slow corrosion in hot engine bays like those in the Gulf.
Sealed, no top-ups
The MF lines are closed batteries. There are no filler caps to check, which suits owners who never open the bonnet between services.
A good fit for
- Toyota and Lexus owners
- Japanese saloons and SUVs
- Cars without start-stop
Worth knowing before you choose
Panasonic has stepped back from making car batteries, so fresh stock in Dubai is limited and some sizes are no longer available. We check the production date on every unit and will not fit one that has been stored too long.

Car was dead on P2 after three weeks away. Sent the tower and bay number on WhatsApp and the technician was at the car in about 25 minutes. He tested it first and showed me the printout before changing anything.

The dealership quoted me three days. These guys fitted an AGM battery in my building's basement the same evening and registered it to the car. Start-stop works again.

Honest. I was sure I needed a new battery. He jump started it, checked the alternator and told me the battery still had life in it, just drive it more. Didn't try to sell me anything.

Friday night on The Walk so it took closer to 40 minutes than 30, but they called to say so. Battery is in the boot on mine and he knew exactly where to go. Paid with Tabby.

Second time I've used them, different car. Same result: on time, clean job, terminals cleaned without me asking. I've saved the number.

Security at my cluster can be difficult with outside contractors. They told me exactly what to say to the gate and it went smoothly. Battery changed in twenty minutes.

Panasonic batteries: common questions
Is Panasonic still making car batteries?
Largely not. Panasonic transferred its Japanese lead-acid battery business to GS Yuasa and closed its Thai car battery plant in 2023. Batteries with the Panasonic label are still sold in the UAE from existing supply, so availability depends on the size your car needs.
How do I know a Panasonic battery has not been sitting in a warehouse?
Ask to see the production code on the case and have the voltage measured before fitting. A healthy new 12-volt battery reads about 12.6 volts or more at rest. Our technician does both in front of you, and we do not fit stock that fails that check.
Which Panasonic size fits my Toyota or Honda?
Japanese cars use a coded size system, and the code is printed on the label of your current battery. It defines the case size, the terminal type and which side the positive post sits on. Send us a photo of that label and we will match it.
Car not starting right now?
Message us the make, model and where it's parked. You'll have a price and an arrival time in a few minutes.
