Wheel alignment: common questions
Is wheel alignment the same as wheel balancing?
No. Alignment sets the angles the wheels sit at and fixes pulling and uneven tyre wear. Balancing adds small weights to the rim to stop a vibration, usually felt in the steering wheel at motorway speed. They are separate jobs and are often done together.
Can wheel alignment be done at my parking in JBR?
No. Alignment needs a level lift and a calibrated machine, so it is always a workshop job. What we can do at your parking is check the tyres and steering joints first. Then we collect the car and usually return it the same day.
Do I need an alignment after fitting new tyres?
It is a sensible time to do it. If the old tyres wore evenly and the car drives straight, a check may show nothing needs adjusting. If the old ones were worn on one edge, align the car or the new set will wear the same way.
